Infotainment System Engineer

A leading automotive Tier-1 supplier is seeking individuals to join their Engineering Team in Texas to work as a System Engineer. The successful candidate will work with OEM customers and the internal engineering team to develop automotive infotainment systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead specification development for infotainment systems regarding HMI, connectivity, audio, radio, and other features and functions by working closely with OEM customer
  • Negotiate requirements with OEM customer when necessary
  • Provide onsite support at customer sites to analyze and discuss technical issues
  • Capture and analyze in-vehicle/ internal bus data to resolve issues
  • Communicate analysis findings and customer requirements to the core engineering team in Japan
  • Prepare and support design reviews and technical review meetings with OEM customers for system-level engineering issues.
  • Work on and negotiate validation test plans and requirements with OEM customer

Requirements

  • Experience in a customer facing role
  • Experience working with automakers in an electrical, software, or systems role
  • Experience testing in-vehicle and bench level
  • Experience with CAN implementation and familiarity with vehicle CAN principles
  • Ability to understand electrical schematics and block diagrams
  • Hands-on experience with electrical tools such as oscilloscopes and voltmeters
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Work authorization in US
  • Valid US driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with automotive infotainment products (radios, navigation, amplifier, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Bluetooth and WiFi technologies
  • Knowledge of serial communications like I2C and UART
  • Experience with Telematics
  • Understanding of cellular communications: GSM, CDMA, LTE, 3G/4G, etc.
  • Cellular/RF communications analysis tools such as spectrum analyzer, QXDM
  • Basic programming skills, and understanding of Linux shell
  • Knowledge about validation requirements for automotive applications
  • Master’s degree in the aforementioned majors is preferred
  • Ability to speak Japanese is a big plus but not required
