Technical Program Manager - Infotainment Systems
One of my clients, a leading automotive Tier-1 supplier, is seeking individuals to work as a Technical Program Manager.
The Technical Program Manager will perform project management for software development, system integration, and validation for automotive infotainment systems. To qualify for this position, the individual must have experience working to develop electronic products as a software development leader. This position reports to the Engineering Manager or above.

Responsibilities:
- To establish and execute program timing, develop core specifications, and work with core software development and validation teams to deliver high-quality infotainment products.
- Evaluate incoming feature requests and identify resource needs.
- Quantify feature release quality by evaluating projected software defect rate, number of open defects, etc.
- Manage relationships with strategic partners, such as Apple, Google, other core tech vendors, etc. in the planning of features and requirements.
- Maintains customer relationships and serves as the key contact person with the customer for software engineering issues and requirements.
- Gain in-depth understanding of customer requirements/requests to give clear and concise instructions to the core engineering team in Japan.
- Create and manage software development master development schedule based on customer design delivering milestones.
- Closely work with software design team in Japan to monitor development progress, and create software status report for internal and external reporting events.
- Create software development and validation test plans to obtain internal or external approval from the customer.
- Provide engineering support to obtain new business during customer sourcing process.
- Provide engineering support for manufacturing plants during product launch phase.
- Manages and facilitates issues, processes, and activities
- Create, implement, and improve current processes in place and add new ones as needed.
- Support current programs and future business expansion efforts.
- Work with production facilities and help them resolve issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience with software development management
- Experience working through the complete software development life cycle
- Familiarity with the technical implementation of Bluetooth, USB, Wi-Fi, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Voice, CAN, and /or Navigation features within a vehicle
- Experience in developing automotive electronics at a Tier 1 supplier
- Experience with task allocation and software development project planning
- Bachelor’s Degree in Software/Electrical Engineering or related technical field
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and presentation skills
- Ability to effectively operate and communicate in a multi-cultural environment
- Experience with Infotainment system design and related technologies
- experience is highly preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with automotive infotainment products (radios, navigation, amplifier, etc.)
- Master’s degree in the aforementioned majors is preferred
- Ability to speak Japanese is a big plus but not required
- Leadership experience in electronic system product launch
